About Us
Located in the Southern part of the Texas Panhandle, Moore Maker Wholesale, Inc. in Matador, brothers Wayland Moore and Glynard Moore opened for business in 1985, making spurs, buckles, and bits for local cowboys. In 1988, the Moore brothers were asked to make a dehorner with scissor-like handles and a slightly curved blade to use on cattle horns. Soon they had patents on four dehorner products that were made on-site. Other farming and ranching tools, such as horn tippers, barbwire stretchers, and fencing pliers were soon added throughout the coming years.
In 1993, Moore Maker Wholesale branched out into pocket knives. Local ranchers asked for one blade that would both castrate and earmark cattle. MMI designed a blade with a fine point tip that was much more functional. Hunting knives were added, and the rest is history.
Moore Maker Wholesale is considered the largest manufacturer of knives and ranching tools in Texas. The company continues to be owned and operated by the Moore family every day, and Wayland stills find time to ranch.
